OR-114 is the two-component polyurethane class H insulating varnish also sold on the market as 2 BK 1024 (2BK1024). If you are looking for 2 BK 1024, Orhun Kimya makes it as OR-114.

When to use OR-114

Class H windings are usually processed with baking varnishes. If you have no oven, or the part does not fit in one, OR-114 provides class H thermal endurance with a two-component system that cures at room temperature.

  • Motors and windings running at high temperature,
  • Large parts that do not fit in an oven,
  • Field repairs that require class H.

Using a two-component varnish

  1. Mix components A (varnish) and B (hardener) at the ratio in the TDS, in a clean container.
  2. Mix only as much as you can use within the pot life; the mix cannot be used after that.
  3. Apply to a clean, dry winding and let the excess drain.
  4. Leave to cure at room temperature for the time given in the TDS.

Without component B the varnish will not cure; do not judge the ratio by eye.

For general work at class F and below, single-component air-drying OR 1xx may be more practical. For class selection see the varnish selection guide.

Questions

Is OR-114 the same as 2 BK 1024?

Yes. The two-component polyurethane class H varnish sold as 2 BK 1024 (2BK1024) is made by Orhun Kimya under the name OR-114.

Can OR-114 be used without the hardener?

No. OR-114 is two-component; it does not cure without component B (hardener).

What are the mixing ratio and pot life?

The mixing ratio and usable life of the mix are given in the product TDS. You can request the TDS via WhatsApp.

Can it be used on class F motors?

Yes. A higher-class varnish can be used on a lower-class winding without problems.
